I have never had contact with my son how can i relinquish my rights?

Depending on age you might need a lawyer. Talk to the mother if possible and tell her you would like to relinguish your rights. If she agrees then you might not even need a lawyer, you might just need to go to the courthouse and sign a paper along with her.
